Karen is committed to delivering for the residents of Petaluma. She will always keep an open door to listen to residents’ needs and desires. As our next Petaluma City Councilmember, some of Karen’s priorities will focus on:

 

• Supporting growth controls while sustainably developing affordable housing at appropriately-sited infill locations.

• Investing in our infrastructure, particularly smoother streets, city facilities, and longer-term, in cross-town connectors at Rainier Ave. and Caulfield Ln. to reduce traffic congestion between Petaluma’s east and west sides.

​

• Advocating for the preservation of the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds by keeping the fairgrounds property for public, agricultural, and recreational purposes.

​

• Sustaining a safe community by providing police officers and firefighters with the resources they need to effectively do their jobs.

​

• Minimizing water, sewer, and garbage rate increases by learning to do more with less.

​

• Reducing homelessness through regional collaboration, and enhancing partnerships with COTS and efforts like Project Homekey to reduce the number of homeless individuals living on our streets.

​

• Advancing efforts to reduce Petaluma’s carbon footprint through increased use of electric vehicles, renewable energy, and investments in a more environmentally sustainable community.
