I am running for Petaluma City Council to promote a balance between needed economic
development and preserving our cherished history, traditions and quality of life.

PRESS RELEASE
On Friday, June 20th, Karen Nau, Petaluma City Councilwoman, has filed her initial
paperwork to launch her re-election campaign. The
November election will have three seats up for election.
Karen is the first incumbent to file with the City Clerks office. I was encouraged to continue serving on the
Petaluma City Council by many residents of Petaluma.
They have expressed to me that they like the fact that I am available to listen to
their concerns and find solutions to situations that arise in Petaluma, Nau stated.
In the past six months, the current City Council has achieved the
hiring of a new City Manager, approving Petalumas General Plan, and recently the
Community Impact Report for future developments in Petaluma. It will beneficial to the City to have a
Council Member who can continue the plans and goals that the Council have made a
priority. explains Nau, who first ran 3 and half years ago.
Naus experience as a member of the community on the
Parks and Recreation Committee helped Nau decide to run the first time in 2004. She was
and continues to be determined to have a balance between maintaining and enhancing the
community economy and protecting the environment as well as continuing to preserve the
historic aspects of Petaluma.
Petaluma needs to continue to make streets and
public safety number one, says Councilwoman Karen Nau. We need to maintain our city streets. Petaluma also needs and deserves a new fire
station as well as a new Police Department to service the needs of the City. We have to make sure that there is sufficient
revenue to make both possible.
In the past 3 years, Nau has shown leadership in her role
as a Vice Mayor, Council liaison to the Petaluma Bike & Pedestrian Committee, Planning
Commission, Climate Protect Campaign, TOT committee, Visitors Program, and recently
the Airport Committee.
Besides being a City Council member, Nau is a
teacher/program manager at North Bay Childrens Center at Mary Collins/Cherry Valley
School, a parent of 3 young adults, Sebastian, 25, Alison, 23 and Marshall Nau 21. With deep roots in Petaluma, her parents, Ray
& Ettamarie Peterson have an educational pumpkin/bee farm on Gossage Avenue.
With Election Day, 4 months away, Nau invites the
public to participate in her campaign. She will be walking precincts in the late summer
months to talk to the voters and get their input. There
are plenty of ways to help support her re-election efforts and her website is www.electkarennau.com. |

My re-election campaign for Petaluma City Council
is up and running .... and Election Day will be here before we know it.
Supporting our downtown and
infill development to fight urban sprawl working to attract new environmentally
friendly jobs working for more shopping opportunities to keep our sales tax dollars
here were the promises I made to you in 2004. I have kept my word.
My record on the Petaluma
City Council is one of promoting a balance between needed economic development and
preserving our cherished history, traditions and quality of life.
My goals are to continue
supporting the widening of 101, implementing rail transit (SMART) and creating new
cross-town connectors to relieve the intolerable congestion. I will continue efforts to
improve the conditions of our streets that you expect and deserve.
Ive been a longtime volunteer
for local nonprofits, earning the Good Egg award. Prior to serving on
the Council; I was a member of the Recreation, Music and Parks Commission, I worked to
strengthen senior programs and sports for youth and adults, including designing, financing
and building new Leghorns Park and creating additional playing fields for all sports.
As you know, I am a good
listener, which is a key requirement of being a good councilmember. I have worked
hard the last 3 1/2 years as your City Council member and I am asking for your support!
Respectfully,
I ask for your vote.
